Back Pain Specialist
What good is a diagnosis in the absence of a direct and clear pathway that will lead to a solution?
Unfortunately, most back specialists rely on two options in the fight against chronic debilitating back pain.
Whilst anti inflammatory drugs can assist with pain levels and help to restore function to the acute back pain sufferer, the ongoing prescription and use of them is not an effective strategy to overcome long term chronic back pain.
Most back specialists and orthopaedic surgeons view lower back surgery as the last resort. Most will prefer patients to exhaust all conservative treatment options before recommending that people go under the knife. This is extremely wise given the complexity and risks associated with lower back surgery along with the fact that as many as 40% of people who undergo back surgery fail to notice any improvement to their condition. In fact, there is now a new term or diagnosis for people who fall under this category - ‘failed back surgery syndrome’.
So with only two strategies to combat chronic back pain, with the first proving no real solution and the latter only an option to people who have exhausted all conservative option, it is no surprise that most chronic back sufferers walk away from a back specialist consults, confused and frustrated and quite a few hundred dollars lighter in the back pocket.
As a practitioner who specialises in chronic back pain, having helped thousands of people over a 15 year period I am certain that people want a solution to their pain, not just a diagnosis.
The vast majority of back pain sufferers present to our clinic with years of pain, impaired quality of life and frustration in trying so many treatment options to no avail.
Our diagnosis is unique and refreshing as it contradicts most of what the back pain sufferers has been told. The spine and its structures are not the cause of back pain, it is the weakened postural muscles that cause the lower back to be under constant load and pressure. The spine and its structures may be producing pain,, however this is symptomatic of the poor weakened posture.
After the diagnosis we provide a very clear and thorough path as to how we are going to restore symmetry to the body to remove the excessive load placed on the lower back.
People walk away from their initial consult with us with excitement, enthusiasm and the confidence that they have finally found out the reason why they have their back pain and the reason why they have not been able to find a lasting solution to their pain.
We work together as a team to achieve postural symmetry combining effective hands on therapy, one on one exercises and movement patterning homework that provides daily relief whilst overcoming painful compensatory patterns.
From our perspective this approach is far more rewarding than sitting behind a large desk in a white coat, providing a symptomatic diagnosis with no solution.
