WHY DO I HAVE A FROZEN SHOULDER?
Postural imbalances create a rounding of the shoulder/s which leads to an imbalance of the muscles that support and stabilise the shoulder. This lack of support and stability of the shoulder joint can result in a build up of solidified connective tissue deep in and around the joint. As the shoulder progressively gets worse so does the solidification of the connective tissue (fascia), the tension can worsen to the point of not being able to move your arm, hence the term frozen shoulder. WHY DO I HAVE AN ACUTE ROTATOR CUFF INJURY?
An acute rotator cuff injury can be brought on by overuse, or participation in an activity that you have not done for some time - hence lacking adequate strength and conditioning. If the muscles of the shoulder become tight and or fatigued, then so will the muscles that stabilise the shoulder (the rotator cuff muscles). An acute rotator cuff injury will usually settle quickly with effective treatment and rest allowing the patient to return to sport or activity. It then becomes important to gradually recondition yourself to the action that first created the injury. WHY DO I HAVE A CHRONIC ROTATOR CUFF INJURY?
The shoulder is a unique joint in the sense that it is predominantly supported and held in place by the muscles that surround it. When muscular imbalances are present surrounding the shoulder joint the rotator cuff muscles which are mainly designed to stabilise glenohumeral movement become prime movers instead. The rotator cuff muscles quickly fatigue, tighten and can result in a tear, inflammation or pain due to the tension. It is important to note that the chronic rotator cuff injury is just a symptom of the incorrect positioning of the shoulder joint. The underlying cause needs to be addressed to provide a lasting solution to the injury. WHAT IS IT THAT YOU DO AT SHOULDER PAIN SOLUTIONS THAT WILL PROVIDE ME WITH A SOLUTION TO MY SHOULDER PAIN?
We address the true underlying cause of your chronic shoulder condition, not just the symptoms. Whether you have shoulder pain, frozen shoulder or a rotator cuff injury our unique hands on approach works deep in and around the shoulder joint to restore it back to its relaxed and aligned position. In chronic shoulder pain cases, as the pain eradicates and movement is restored when then proceed to strengthen your body so your shoulder pain does not return. ONCE MY FROZEN SHOULDER IS GONE, HOW DO I PREVENT IT FROM COMING BACK?
Certain frozen shoulder cases are brought on by postural imbalances or injuries created by muscular imbalances. As we eradicate the deep fascial tension in and around your shoulder and create an improved range of movement we proceed to carry out functional movement exercises as a part of the frozen shoulder treatment sessions. These exercises are designed to restore neuromuscular symmetry to your body. Once the process is completed your postural issues are corrected meaning that all the muscles in your body are working synergistically of each other. YOU SAY THAT YOUR UNIQUE SHOULDER PAIN TREATMENT HELPS A LARGE PERCENTAGE OF SHOULDER PAIN SUFFERERS, HOW DO I KNOW THAT I AM NOT ONE OF THE THAT WONT BE FIXED?
If you don't fall into the large category we can tell during our initial consult. We have found a small percentage of people find the hands on treatment difficult to cope with and can not handle the intensity required to effectively resolve their shoulder complaint. Some people present to our clinic who have been on heavy doses of strong medications to mask their pain for a period of time; painkillers, antidepressant drugs prescribed to try and resolve the pain over time can interfere with our natural treatment process. However once again this only occurs in a smaller percentage of the people we see, and we are very upfront in the beginning if we don't feel we can help, or that treatment will take much longer than our standard average. WHAT KIND OF PRACTITIONER ARE YOU?
All practitioners at Shoulder Pain Solutions have a background in Health Science and/or Physiotherapy. We have specialised practitioners who once suffered from chronic debilitating pain, dedicating all of their post graduate studies in the research, prevention and treatment of the underlying factors behind chronic pain. WHAT ARE THE TREATMENTS AIMED AT DOING?
The treatments are aimed at restoring the shoulder joint to its relaxed aligned position in the midline of the body. Tension present at the front of the shoulder can pull the shoulder forward of the midline, creating weakness to the muscles at the back of the shoulder. Our treatments are aimed at restoring symmetry by eradicating the anterior tension and strengthening the posterior weaknesses. At shoulder pain solutions we see mostly chronic cases where all other options have failed, our unique shoulder pain treatment targets the underlying cause of shoulder pain, not just the symptoms. Whether you are suffering from a chronic long standing frozen shoulder or rotator cuff injury we can help you.
